FINAL PROJECT (60 pts)
For the final, you have two projects in Flash, a web site and a game, for which to design sound.
Download all the files- finalFilesT369.sitx (1.8MB)
Download just the web site- aerostatic.fla (832K)
Download just the game- coneCrazy.fla (2MB)
** Do a spotting session for both the web interface and the game and create a detailed list of what you need. Try to map these out in order to get an overall sense of what you want the sound to do for the piece- the style, the functionality, the story-like quality. Then make notes as to how you could go about generating what you need.
** Use your super-skills to create a library of sounds. Sounds should be straight forward, interesting, but rich and layered or playful as needed. Keyword- layered (make sounds from MANY other sounds to create subtle and interesting effects)
** Import your library and build out the pieces in Flash.
** I will cover the “hit” sounds in the game (these are sound objects, more later…)
** All objects, actions, transitions, emotions, environments, etc. should have complimenting sound (buttons- up, over, down, transitions from page to page, animations, etc.)
** Remember- all the sounds have a life span, a beginning, middle and an end, just as the user’s actions.
** Consider how the sound design works with the style of the piece.
** Consider how the sound design works with the functionality of the piece.
** Good quality sounds (no clicks, pops or noise.)
** Set the mix levels in Flash using the edit panel. Sound levels should make sense.
** Use panning and layering of mono sounds in Flash to create stereo image (using the Edit panel).
** Keep all layers locked, except the ones you are using for sound, to avoid moving or accidentally deleting content.
** Make sure you create a new layer(s) for your sounds. All layers you create should be labeled.
** Keep the library organized- put all your sounds in a sound samples folder.
** Logical compression (mp3) that is a compromise between file size and quality.
** Turn in all published files- the .swf file size should be under 600K ideally
** Turn in Protools and sample files.
** Email me and tell me how many asterisks are on this page.
