PERFORMANCE INSTALLATION |
Unidentified Sonic Objects/AudioVisual Polarities (2011)
We often think of communities as concrete and lasting, but community can be momentary and ephemeral. Unidentified Sonic Objects/AudioVisual Polarities is a social performance installation continuing the work of AVIO! (Audio, Visual, Interact, Object). The project explores the interchange of people, sound, objects, light and space, tracing emergent forms within an installation system, encouraging ephemeral community. The Aurora Borealis or Aurora Australis, also known as polar lights, are created by charged particles. These particles create colorful forms of light in the skies of the polar regions as they are moved by the Earth’s magnetic field, often foregrounded on a vast expanse of snowy white. “Explore the glacial territory and create your own audio-visual polarities as your work collides with that of others.” “Lounge, look, listen or play and perform!”
